We travelled to play Carrick Utd this evening for our second league game of the season. This was always going to be a tough task against a very good side. Unfortunately we fell behind early, when a long range strike was brilliantly saved by Rian Prendergast in goal but the ball rebounded off the crossbar and dropped over the line. A similar strike 10mins later doubled Carrick’s lead. Huge credit to the lads who battled away and started to get the ball down and play some lovely football. Kilmac started the second half brilliantly and pulled a goal back 5 mins in to the second half with a Sean Behan strike. Kilmac pressed hard for an equaliser and that nearly came when Patrick Behan hit the crossbar and then we had a shot cleared off the line. With the game in the balance the next goal was going to be crucial and it was Carrick who got it. Kilmac kept going but it was the home side who grabbed another late on. We couldn’t have asked for anything else from the group this evening and playing against such a strong opponent will only help the team and their development.
